雞湯回覆和K3澄清

這次很幸運，才說著上封信沒下文，今天(11/05)就收到回信了

關於K3成分與配方

1. 請問雞湯罐頭的配方是否有更改呢？Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul makes 7 canned formulas (3 canine and 4 feline).  There have been no changes to these formulas in the last several years.
2. 我發現雞湯幼貓罐上面的成份中含有維生素K3（menadione sodium bisulfite (source of vitamin K)” ），請問你是否有添加這成分到你的貓食產品中？如果有加的話，那就是有更改配方囉？Menadione sodium bisulfite was removed from all of our formulas in 20XX.  Unfortunately, some old labels were placed on some cans of Chicken Soup for the Kitten Lover’s Soul that was made in January 2013 (Best Before date of January 2015). 
   
   I sent the previous email before I had found your complete answer regarding the Menadione, which was removed from our formulas in early 2012.＊

關於產品品質

1. 為什麼你們的新工廠所製作的雞湯罐頭內容物沒有填滿，並且肉的質地不像以前那樣實在呢？「肉的質地不像以前那樣實在」可能代表罐頭內容物有較多的水份和較少的肉；「罐頭內容物沒有填滿」可能代表這食物的重量較輕/份量比以前少。請問你有在監督你們工廠製作過程的品管嗎？Last fall, Chicken Soup changed comanufacturers of their canned product.  This resulted in the canned food being made in a different factory (in South Dakota).  This change was accompanied by unanticipated changes in the consistancy of the canned diets without change to the formulation. Most of the texture changes were due to a process condition (drop temperature) that was not optimum to maintain the loaf texture.  Through refinement of our process and experience in the new factory, we have resolved the inconsistencies with the texture of the canned formulas as of April 2013 (cans with Best Before dates of April 2015 and later).
   
   

從原廠回信看來，內容有以下重點：

• 以前的雞湯貓狗食物有含維他命K3，但是已於2012年年初移除此成分，現在的雞湯罐「沒有」含K3成分。
• 會在現在的雞湯幼母貓罐頭上看到印有K3成分，是因為2013年1月份製造的某些幼貓罐（2015年1月到期這批）使用了「舊的標籤」。
• 去年秋天，雞湯原廠更換了合作的製造商，因此罐頭換到不同的工廠製作（位於南達科他州）。隨著這個（合作關係的）改變，發生了不在預期之內的變化，也就是在沒有更動配方的情況下，雞湯的罐頭食物產生了（與過去）不一致的情況。
• 罐頭內容物質地的變化，大部分是因為加工的條件（降溫程序）不夠理想，所以未能維持產品的塊狀質地。透過提昇我們在新工廠的製作方法與經驗，從2013年4月份起，我們已經解決了罐頭內容物質地不一致的問題。
• 到期日在2015年4月與之後的雞湯罐頭都是製造過程已改善過的產品。
  

照原廠所說，2015年4月份之後到期的雞湯罐頭其內容物的裝罐和質地呈現應該都已經改善，不過今年我有好一陣子沒買新工廠做的雞湯罐了（後來收購到一些舊版的還沒吃完），不知道現在台灣流通的雞湯罐是否都已經是「到期日在2015年4月之後」的產品呢？我最近應該會去買來開看看，若有貓友已經買到新一批的罐頭，歡迎幫忙確認….
